CTIA OTA Test Plan V2.2 Update

March 28, 2007: Orlando, FL

The CTIA Over-the-Air Test Plan Version 2.2 has been undergoing some fine tuning.  During the ERP Ad-Hoc working group meeting in Orlando, the group decided the OTA test plan version 2.2 needed to be updated to include additional test parameters.  This new revision of the test plan will be version 2.2.1.

The CTIA is expected to release version 2.2.1 on May 16, 2007.  Testing against version 2.2.1 will be required starting July 11, 2007 for CTIA and PTCRB certification.  Until then, CTIA Authorized Test Labs (CATLs) will continue to test against the current OTA test plan version 2.1.

The OTA Test Plan Version 2.2 was originally set to become mandatory in late 2006 but has been delayed several times.  Once implemented, version 2.2.1 will make TRP and TIS testing for GPRS and EGPRS devices a requirement for CTIA and PTCRB certification.  Other additions included: UMTS test specifications for TRP and TIS measurements, adding pass/fail target values for CDMA and intermediate channel testing as well as adding TRP and TIS test procedures for CDMA 1xEV-DO and 1xRTT.

As an active member of the CTIA Ad-Hoc working group, we will keep you updated.
