CTIA Bluetooth Compatibility Certification Program Launch
February 6, 2009
February 6, 2009 marked the official launch of the CTIA Bluetooth® Compatibility Certification Program. Created by the CTIA in conjunction with the Bluetooth SIG, the program aims to improve the user experience between Bluetooth mobile phones and headsets marketed towards the US.
Manufacturers submitting their product for the program must select a designated CTIA Authorized Test Lab (CATL). The designated CATL is responsible for testing the manufacturer’s product – A-Device, against a pool of CTIA approved devices – B-Devices. The current B-Device list includes: 10 phones, 2 mono headsets, and 3 stereo headsets. Although the program is not mandatory, it is required by most US carriers.
CETECOM Inc. is one of the few designated CATLs capable of offering test services for the CTIA Bluetooth Compatibility Certification Program. Our experience as a CATL already includes 2G/3G, Over-the-Air (OTA) Performance, and Converged Wireless Group (CWG) RF Performance. The addition of Bluetooth Compatibility to our CATL and A2LA accreditation allows our customers to fully utilize our comprehensive service portfolio at one facility.
