Bluetooth Overview
Before being released to the market, devices incorporating the Bluetooth® wireless technology must undergo testing according to the requirements set in the Bluetooth Qualification Program. Under the new Qualification Program, PRD2.0, companies now have the freedom to qualify and list their products on their own.
PRD2.0 is meant to reduce qualification costs and its complexity. This may be the case for some companies but not so for companies who are not familiar with the process. This is why the Bluetooth SIG recommends that a BQE (Bluetooth Qualification Expert – formerly BQB) be involved with the product listing. Doing so eliminates errors in qualification and waives a random audit performed on listed products by the Bluetooth SIG.
In addition, a BQTF (Bluetooth Qualification Test Facility) still needs to be consulted since CAT A testing including RF, BB, and LM layers can only be performed by a BQTF.
CETECOM is a BQTF with the experience and skill to perform a full scope of Bluetooth® services:
- Bluetooth® SIG Qualification for v1.1, v1.2, v2.0+EDR devices
- BQE Review and Listing (PRD2.0)
- Consulting Services in Testing and Qualification
- Extended Interoperability Testing
CETECOM’s Bluetooth® services go far and beyond the required testing needed for a product to wear the Bluetooth logo. Complementing the qualification services, CETECOM offers Extended Interoperability Testing. This service addresses interoperability and usability issues not covered in the Bluetooth Qualification Program.
